Long term decisons for a brighter future
Long term decisons for a brighter future
In October 2023 I held an event raising awareness of women and children who suffer from domestic violence. A local domestic abuse charity called Juno received over 17,000 calls after the Covid pandemic in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire alone, which shows the scale of the problem
There are currently 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK and this figure will rise to 1.6 million by 2040 due to the fact that people are now living longer. Alzheimers and dementia is very close to me as a few of my patients sadly lost their lives to this. I have seen and understand how families struggle.
I am looking to work with the Wildlife Trust to encourage more families across Nottingham to set up a small eco-system patch in their garden which would help nature and insects to grow, in order to make sure we as a community are all playing our part to help save the climate changes
I am working hard to ensure that our community all get the right quality of care they deserve, the care they are entitled to and are able to live in their own homes as long as they can. I am also creating reforms in the job sector, bringing respect, progression and quality back into the carer workers role and highlighting how valuable their work is in the community and the differences they make in so many peoples lives.
All my staff are given full private medical health insurance, are on the pension scheme and are contracted, so that there is value in their job. We have also managed to negotiate longer care call times with Nottingham City council so that carers can spend more time with their patients. My company is one of the very few companies who do not have a staff retention problem because I value everyone who works for me.
Small businesses are at the heart of our economy. I will be supporting small businesses where I can, encouraging people to set up their own business, exploring and researching what difficulties small businesses are facing then working with them for solutions. Nottingham is a city full of opportunities and potential and we need to allow small business to thrive rather than putting too many restrictions on them.
Do contact me with any issues or problems you might be facing as a small business and I will try and help you with the right advice or point you in the right direction. Or if you are setting up or launching a new business, do let me know and I can give you some hints and tips. I set up my own business from scratch and learnt a lot during the process.
If you are not already a Clean Champion Volunteer, you need to sign up now! This is a great community scheme to keep our communities clean from litter. You can sign up as a family, with friends, neighbours or a community group. Once you go out litter picking, it does actually feel really satisfying and gives you a sense of achievement too that you have played your part in keeping Nottingham clean. Let's all work together to give our children a clean city. I'm a Clean Champion and would love to join any local community group in Nottingham East to help clean up our city.
I am always ready to help local charities raise awareness for their causes. I was recently invited as a guest speaker for Muslim Hands to help raise funds for aid into Gaza. Separately I raised £4,000 for aid to be delivered to Gaza and wrote to Rishi Sunak to help with the aid in Gaza too.
